Pop star Selena Gomez celebrated her 26th birthday yesterday (22nd July) with a party in Los Angeles, and whilst many of her fans wished her a "Happy Birthday", there was one message, from another pop star which stood out. Best friend Taylor Swift was unable to make Selena's birthday party, so she sent a message publicly on Instagram, to wish her friend a happy birthday.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the 'Shake It Off' singer, who is currently mid-way through her 'reputation' tour, posted a photo of a pink birthday cake, covered in a heart and hundreds and thousands. The icing on the cake read, 'Gomez or go home', with a big 26 in the middle. Taylor then included the words, 'Will I let distance stop me from celebrating my best friend’s birthday? I mean, I could but why would I want 2?'

Despite Taylor not being able to attend her friend's birthday party, it looks like Selena had a fantastic time, as photos of the event have started to surface online. Grace VanderWaal posted some photos on Instagram saying, 'huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY 4 SELENA!!!!!!!!!! Thank for everything I hope you have the best day bebegurllllllll'. sic
Earlier this year, Selena Gomez dropped 'Back To You' which is featured on the new series of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. Selena's song is about regret and she recently explained, "I want it to be a beautiful message in a really complicated way - but really fun."
Selena is an executive producer on 13 Reasons Why and she has previously recorded a version of Yaz's 'Only You' for the TV programme's soundtrack. The lyric video for 'Back To You' has been a massive he with fans calling it, 'magical' and 'soft and smooth', watch the video below.
