Pop star Rita Ora has taken to the stage to perform her collaboration with Avicii 'Lonely Together', just over a week after the Swedish DJ died at the age of 28-years-old.

Rita was at a music festival in Holland when she paused in her set to say, "I want to say something really, really special because it's going to be hard for me to sing this next song, and I'll tell you why."

She went on to explain how Avicii "changed her life" and this was the first time she had performed their collaboration since he died. She then asked the 40,000 strong crowd to join her in a minute's silence before she sang 'Lonely Together'. During the silence the screens faded to black with Avicii's name and dates of his birth and death.

Rita then went on to give a fantastic, but emotional performance of their song.

Rita and Avicii collaborated on 'Lonely Together', which was featured on Avicii's 2017 EP Avici. This was the first music from the Swedish DJ since he had announced his retirement from touring the previous year.

On the 20th April the music industry and fans of the popular DJ were devastated by the 'Wake Me Up' DJ's death.

Following the initial announcement from Avicii's representative, messages of condolence came in from all over the world, including one from Rita Ora which said, 'I have no words. I remember how amazing it was to make Lonely Together and it felt like just yesterday we were talking. Condolences to Avicii's family, friends, and the fans who supported him. May he rest in peace. Gone too soon. I’m devastated. Heartbroken.'

Then, last week Avicii's family released a statement wanting to thank everyone for "the support and the loving words about our son and brother".

Later in the week, the family then released another statement with the sad news that they believed Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, "could not go on any longer".

Our thoughts are with Avicii's friends and family at this difficult time.
