Man in critical condition after motorbike crash in Ayrshire

The incident took place on the B743 on Sunday afternoon

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after a motorbike crash in Ayrshire.

The 40-year-old was seriously injured when his KTM motorcycle crashed on B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven road at around 3.50pm on Sunday.

Ambulance crews responded to the incident and the rider was taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

The road was closed between Muirkirk and Dungavel for around six hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.

Sergeant Paul Mellis, from Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: "We are appealing for information to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and would ask anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was in the area at the time and has a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle to contact us."

Information can be passed to Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2137 of Sunday, April 17, 2022.
