This weekend sees the end of the awards season, as the 94th Academy Awards take place in Los Angeles. With Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog leading with 12 nominations, followed by sci-fi epic Dune with 10, as well as Belfast and West Side Story tied with seven apiece, it already looks like it will be an exciting night.

However, there's much Oscars fun to be had here on Scala Radio as we've been celebrating all things film music across the week. Here's a look at what you can hear on Scala Radio

Mark Kermode's Oscar Special - 1pm Saturday

Mark Kermode presents Scala Radio’s weekly movie music show, and on the weekend of the 94th Academy Awards, Mark will devote the programme to the nominees, featuring music from the films and sharing his Oscars predictions.

Mark will dip into all 5 scores in the running for Best Original Score – Encanto by Germaine Franco, The Power of the Dog by Jonny Greenwood, Parallel Mothers by Alberto Iglesias, Don’t Look Up by Nicholas Britell and Dune by Hans Zimmer – and will also feature music from nominees in other categories such as Belfast, Spencer, Licorice Pizza, West Side Story, Nightmare Alley and Flee.

Scala Radio’s Movie Music marathon is back! On Easter Monday (18th April) we’ll showcase the finest film music from 9am to 9pm.

Every hour will be themed according to a specific genre, composer, director, actor or film franchise.

So we might have an hour devoted to Costume Dramas, or to scores by Danny Elfman, or music from Christopher Nolan films, or music from films starring Meryl Streep – or maybe a James Bond hour. It’s up to YOU to help us shape the day!

And this year we’re giving you even more control by inviting you to tell us about your favourite film scores from your chosen hour theme.
