There are some great hidden gems

Dog walking in the winter

Dogs and their walkers in Aberdeen already know that the city is a treasure chest full of ideal walks for pups and their pals. But with so many cracking spots to try out, you might not know there is a gem right on your doorstep.

Check out our favourite five:

1) Seaton Park

A real favourite with locals and visitors alike, Seaton Park delivers pretty much everything both you and your pup pal would want from the perfect walk. A lovely, clean walk you can enjoy the views of Cathedral Walk and its floral displays. It is a particularly good walk for more timid dogs as it offers the secluded section of the walled garden.
Keep walking to the West of the park and enjoy the River Don.

2) Aberdeen Beach

For the dogs who love a splash, the beach is the best way to exercise. With two miles of beautiful coast, this award-winning beach is clean and friendly, and perfect for a long run. Walkers might want to pack the odd towel or two though!

3) Duthie Park

Duthie Park is a huge 44-acre site and has been a public park since 1883. It is the perfect place for a dog walk being so close to the city centre.
Prepare to be spoilt by lovely open spaces, flanked by beautiful flowers and trees. There is the added interest of the wetland area and statues of historical figures. Not to mention the attraction of the Winter Gardens. With so much to see and do, it is easy to see why dogs and their walkers love this spot.

4) Hazelhead Park

On the outskirts of Aberdeen, Hazelhead is a particular favourite for families with young children but has a great deal to offer everyone. A large park, it is comprised of both woodland and parkland making it a great spot for all types of walks. Its other attractions include rose gardens, sculptures, a maze, a golf course and Pets corner.

5) Westburn Park

Westburn Park is a great choice for dog walkers as it has both parkland and water to play in. Gilcomston Burn runs through the park, so your dog can enjoy the best of both. The park itself is large and wide, so perfect for a good bout of exercise, and there are plenty of benches around too. Westburn Park's other attractions include lovely gardens, a pond, tennis courts and a bowls green.

We will all always have our favourite play area, but hopefully this has given you some food for thought when you are sniffing out your next jaunt. If you think you or your pawsome pal has a favourite which should be on our list, please get in touch, we would love to add it!
