Sir Patrick Stewart gives Sir Ian McKellen a smooch on stage at Three Empire Awards

They are the definition of best pals!

Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart are the definition of best buds. Whether on film or on stage, they've been side by side for years, with Sir Ian even officiating Sir Patrick's wedding.

Throughout it all they've shared numerous pictures of their bromance - from trips to Coney Island to New Year's Eve celebrations, or getting cosy on Graham Norton's couch – just look how happy Sir Ian looks!

So, naturally, it had to be Sir Ian who handed Sir Patrick the Empire Legend Award at the Three Empire Awards.

In the words of Patrick: "He came out on a Sunday night to eat chicken and give me an award... that was so lovely."

A couple of weeks ago, a blue plaque was unveiled at the University of Liverpool to mark the spot Sir Ian ate a jacket potato (a fine food choice), so we wanted to know what mundane activity Sir Patrick would like to have a plaque for.

It turns out he is quite the table tennis fan, and would like the matches he plays with his neighbor to get write-ups in the newspaper!

Failing that, he would love for the house he was born in in Yorkshire to be honoured with a blue plaque. We're on the case, Sir Pat.
