13 Reasons Why is the latest Netflix Original to be released and with an executive producer like Selena Gomez you're going to want to watch it!

Earlier today Selena posted her excitement about the series on Instagram saying, 'After 7 years of holding onto this book, I couldn't of picked a better time for this message to exist.'

13 Reasons Why is a hard hitting, yet thought-provoking series which follows a group of teens whose friend Hannah committed suicide recently. After Hannah's death her friend Clay finds a box of tapes recorded by her with the reasons she decided to end her life.

The series is based on a book which is close to Selena's heart as she told the press,

"To be frank with you, I actually was going through a really difficult time when the show started production. I went away for 90 days and I actually met tons of kids in this place that we are talking about."

Selena explained how she originally read the book when she was 16 or 17 and had the idea of playing the female lead, Hannah.

"I just believed in what it was," she explained, "when I read the book I thought it was something I could relate to, my fans in particular."

However now, seven years down the line, Selena is now a executive producer on the series and Australian newcomer Katherine Langford now plays the role of Hannah.
