Demi Lovato has stayed completely out of the public eye for the past couple of months after she suffered a drug overdose on 24th July this year. After reports that she could very well have died following the relapse, the 'Sober' singer - who has been open and honest with her fans in the past about her addiction struggles - went back to rehab after recovering in hospital.

Demi took to Instagram two weeks after the incident to share a heartfelt message to her fans which read, 'I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.

'To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time,' before vowing to 'keep fighting'.

Now, Demi's mum has spoken out about her daughter's tragedy in an interview with Newsmax TV, after her other daughter Madison posted a moving message last month. Dianna De La Garza said that the family had spent two days wondering if Demi would even make it.

"I was trying to be strong for her and for her sisters and for my family back home," she said. "I just feel like the reason she’s alive today is because of the millions of prayers that went up that day. I couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to save her life."

She continued, "We ran into the emergency room to be by her side, and she just didn’t look good, at all. She was in bad shape, but I said to her, 'Demi, I’m here. I love you'.

"At that point, she said back to me, 'I love you too'. From that point on, I never allowed myself to ever think that things weren’t going to be OK."

This comes as reports surface that Demi's ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama has "put his life on hold" to visit Demi regularly whilst she's been in rehab for the last two months, as a source told TMZ that 38-year-old Wilmer has flown several times to 26-year-old Demi's facility to spend visiting days with her.

Local residents have told the publication that the couple, who dated for six years and split in 2016, have been spotted at a local Starbucks where they've been reportedly "acting like boyfriend and girlfriend."
