It's the TV show that shouldn’t work, but it really, really does. The Masked Singer is officially back for a third series and the start date has now been revealed!

The ITV series, that sees a celebrity panel guess which famous faces are singing behind the mask of some glorious costumes, will be back in our lives on 1st and 2nd January 2022. What a start to the new year!

Sharing the news on Instagram, the show revealed: ‘WHO’S BEHIND THE MASK? 👀🎭 Get ready to GET GUESSING January 1st & 2nd on @ITV and @wearestv1 😍 #MaskedSingerUK’

Joel Dommett will be back to host the show, and all of the judging panel, Jonathan Ross, Davinda McCall, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan, are expected to return to try and guess who is behind the costumes.

The costumes have also stepped up a gear and include Doughnuts, Mushroom, Traffic Cone, Snow Leopard, Rockhopper and more.

Jonathan recently told The Mirror: “We’re doing a third series, and I’m doing the third series. And I shouldn’t speak about who the other judges are but you’re not going to be surprised.

“I’m looking forward to doing it because it’s a fun way to spend the evening. On The Masked Singer I’m as much a viewer as a participant, for part of the evening.”

The show’s executive producers Dan Nettleton and Derek McLean have also teased what’s on the horizon for the new series, telling RadioTimes: “In a traditional kind of talent show, there are limits to where you can take the show, but with a show that relies on Badgers singing against Sausages and Blob there really isn’t a limit.

“We do not intend for this to be the same every year, and partly because the beauty of the format you can do bonkers things.”
