Line of Duty fans convinced Ted Hastings is going to die in series finale

It's been one of the most dramatic crime series ever to grace our TV screens, but on Sunday night (2nd May), Line of Duty series six will come to an end, with some MAJOR questions still needing answered!
After bosses released the final trailer earlier this week, it looks like viewers are finally going to discover who the fourth member of H is, but fans of the show also think there's trouble ahead of AC-12 boss Superintendent Ted Hastings.
Of course, if you've been hooked on series six like the majority of the nation, you'll be aware that Hastings has already been forced into an early retirement, with Detective Chief Superintendent Patricia Carmichael coming in to take over, along with her hard-talking ways.
But as well as that tense ending of episode six which saw the Guardia Civil pronounce Marcus Thurwell dead, viewers also picked up on a worrying line from Hastings to his protégé DI Steve Arnott.
Before getting into the lift and leaving the AC-12 office with an anguished look on his face, Hastings said: "Sometimes you don't lose, son. You just run out of time."
After witnessing the moment on Sunday night, Line of Duty fans are now convinced Hastings could die in the series finale.
One user wrote on Twitter: 'I think he's going to have a heart attack', with another adding: 'Please, don't let Ted die/leave the force in episode seven'. (sic)
Another then added: 'Ted Hastings sadly saying 'sometimes we don't lose, we just run out of time' makes me scared he's going to die next episode uncovering the Fourth Man and I'm planning to spend this week emotionally preparing myself for that'. (sic)
Superintendent Hastings, played by Northern Irish actor Adrian Dunbar, has been part of the Line of Duty cast since series one first hit our screens in 2012.
Despite his character not always playing to the letter of the law, and many thinking he was a bent copper throughout the series, Hastings has become one of the most-loved stars by fans, with many hoping he can find answers for AC-12 and finally unveil the bent coppers throughout the force.

Blue Lights (BBC iPlayer)
Set and filmed in Northern Ireland, Blue Lights follows three rookie police officers working in Belfast. All episodes of series one are available to stream, as is series two which was released in April 2024.
The Long Shadow (ITVX and STV Player)
The Long Shadow follows the five-year manhunt for the serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, commonly referred to as The Yorkshire Ripper. The seven-part drama stars the likes of Katherine Kelly, Charley Webb, Mark Stobbart, Liz White and Toby Jones.

Starring David Tennant and Stanley Tucci, BBC drama Inside Man has left viewers on the edge of their seats with lots of twists and turns.

After series one aired in 2019, the BBC released series two of hit drama The Capture in 2022, featuring Holliday Grainger, Ron Perlman and Lia Williams.

Manhunt: The Night Stalker (ITVX and STV Player)

Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio, who is also responsible for shows such as Bodyguard and Bloodlands, is yet to confirm if the show will be back for a seventh series.
But after last Sunday's penultimate episode achieved record viewing figures, with an average of 11 million tuning in, we've just got to hope and pray another series is coming our way!
The Line of Duty series finale airs on Sunday 2nd May at 9pm on BBC One.
