Miley Cyrus chokes back tears as she talks about her dad in emotional TikTok
She's released a new TikTok series inspired by her new song
Just days after releasing her new song 'Used To Be Young', Miley Cyrus has now released a series of TikToks for her fans, inspired by her song. The series of videos called Used To Be Young (Series) sees Miley open up about her childhood, right from the day she was born, up to the present day.
In the second video to be shared, Miley can be seen looking at the Top 100 country songs in 1992, the year she was born. As she looks at the top song she sees her dad Billy Ray Cyrus is listed as having the Number 1 song.
"When I was born, my dad had the Number 1 country song. When I see the numbers I just see the humans behind it, enjoying the music, and I just see people in numbers," Miley said.
She went on to explain: "My dad grew up the opposite of me, so I think that's where me and my dad's relationship to fame and success is wildly different. Him feeling loved by a big audience impacted him emotionally more than it ever could me. When he feels special, or important, it's like healing a childhood wound, and I've always been made to feel like a star, and it's emotional!
"I think that's the difference." Miley said, beginning to tear up, before the camera cut away.
She then played a clip of her dad singing to her as a child, before saying: "Oh my gosh! I do have a lot of great memories singing music with my dad and like learning, and absorbing, like I think I can see my wheels turning and watching his voice and the way that he's using the instrument.
"I will say that I feel vocally, my dad was unappreciated."
Miley has now released several videos, including one which features her Hannah Montana audition. In the TikTok she can be seen watching the audition, explaining: "So in 2004 I was in middle school, I started the auditioning process for Hannah Montana. And originally I wasn't auditioning for Hannah, I was auditioning for the best friend Lily and the wrote back and asked if I could put myself on tape as Hannah."
Since sharing her videos, fans have been leaving loads of comments with one writing: 'I think it's beautiful to recognize how different her experience is. to appreciate that she never knew what it was like to not be loved.'
Another wrote: 'my father and I bonded so much over hannah Montana because of you and your dad ❤️❤️'. (sic)
Miley has just released her new song 'Used To Be Young', along with the emotional video, explaining in a statement: 'This song is about honoring who we’ve been, loving who we are & celebrating who we will become. I feel proud when reflecting on my past and joyful when thinking about the future. I am grateful to my loyal fans who make my dreams a reality daily. I am sincerely thankful for the stability of your steadfast support. This song is for you.' (sic)
