Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid reveal shock split in Twitter statements

Singer Zayn Malik and model Gigi Hadid have officially confirmed that they have ended their relationship after more than two years together. Former One Direction singer Zayn expressed his dismay that the news had been broken first, prompting the release of the statements. Rumours had been flying that they had split after Zayn unfollowed Gigi on Instagram.

The statement on Zayn's Twitter read, 'Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all xZ.'

Model Gigi also tweeted and wrote, 'Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years, not only in the relationship, but in life in general. I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future whatever's meant to be will always be. xG.' sic

There had been rumours that 25-year-old Zayn had proposed to 22-year-old Gigi. Zayn was previously engaged to Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards, who he reportedly dumped by text in 2015.

Zayn recently posted a cryptic message alongside a topless selfie on Instagram with the caption 'When life throws you lemons, catch em so they don't hit you in the f------face.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

Singer Miley Cyrus split from actor Liam Hemsworth in August 2019, despite only getting married in December 2018.


Liam released a statement on Instagram, reading, ''Hi all. Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.


'This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.'
