Miley Cyrus has revealed how she met her boyfriend Maxx Morando, offering fans a rare insight into her love life. The 30-year-old 'Flowers' hitmaker was first linked to the drummer from rock band Liily towards the end of 2021 after they were spotted together in Miami.
In an interview and photoshoot with British Vogue, Miley spoke publicly about her romance with Maxx with for the first time, where she revealed how the couple first met.
Miley said: "We got put on a blind date. Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, 'The worst that can happen is I leave.'
As reported by British Vogue, Maxx called Miley during the interview and her phone played the track 'Tyrone' by Erykah Badu. Miley is said to have smiled and called it the 'boyfriend sexy ringtone.'
Prior to her relationship with Maxx, Miley was in a high-profile relationship with her ex-husband, actor Liam Hemsworth. The pair began their on-off relationship in 2009 and divorced in 2020.
Since her split from Liam, many fans have speculated that her hit 'Flowers' contains lyrics inspired by her relationship with her former husband.
Making a rare reference to her split from Liam, Miley added: "I wouldn't erase my story or want it to be erased. Having an interesting life makes for interesting storytelling."
Miley also went on to candidly address the speculation surrounding 'Flowers' and said: "I never need to be a master at the craft of tricking an audience. It will set itself on fire all by itself."
Instead of drawing on her own experiences whilst writing the track, Miley went on to add that she wanted to make a song that she could do with hearing herself. She said: "I wrote it in a really different way. The chorus was originally: 'I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, but I can't love me better than you can.'
"It used to be more, like, 1950s. The saddest song. Like: 'Sure, I can be my own lover, but you're so much better.' The song is a little fake it till you make it. Which I'm a big fan of."
