Over the weekend we caught up with Liam Payne at the BRITs 2018 nominations event, The BRITs Are Coming, which has been described as a 'mini BRITs'.

Liam spoke to us on the red carpet and said that it's great to have his first solo BRITs nomination. "It's just nice have a bit of love at home," Liam told us. "I'm always in America I find at the moment."

He continued, "It's great to be at home and see the success."

The former One Direction star revealed to us that although he's excited about the nominations he wasn't going to prepare an acceptance speech. However, he did say it's important for him to remember everyone's names. He even revealed that once he managed to forget someone he meant to thank!

AWKS!

As Liam hasn't prepared a speech we thought we'd give him a dare. We asked him to get the word 'carrot' into his acceptance speech. After a quick think the 24-year-old said, "I hope this is made out of 24 carat!"

Now we'll just have to see if he says that on stage during The BRITs in February.

Watch the full interview with Liam Payne below:

Liam is nominated for the first time as a solo artist in the categories of Best British Male Solo Artist and British Single for 'Strip that Down' featuring Quavo. His video for 'Strip That Down' has also be shortlisted for the Britsh Video category.

Viewers can now vote via Twitter for his video to go through to the next round. The top ten have been identified by YouTube/Vevo views and a public social vote will narrow it down to five. Then the winner will be decided with a live social vote during The BRITs TV broadcast on 21st February 2018.

Liam performed 'Strip That Down' at The BRITs Are Coming which was presented by Emma Willis, on Saturday night.

The BRIT Awards will return to the O2 Arena in London on the 21st February 2018, with performances from Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Dua Lipa and more huge acts. This year's show will be hosted by award-winning actor and comedian, Jack Whitehall.
