Police are appealing for information after a serious collision in Bootle.

Just after 6.25pm yesterday evening (Friday 10th May) it was reported a red off road bike had collided with a lamppost on Washington Parade, and that the man who had been on the bike then put the bike into the back of a silver Iveco van which was driven away.

The injured man, in his 20s, then entered a house on Pembroke Road and presented at hospital a short time later. He is being treated for his injuries and at this stage, his condition is described as critical.

A section of Washington parade remains closed while investigation at the scene continue, and CCTV opportunities in the area are being explored.

Roads Policing Sergeant Martin Mayne appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said:

“We want to hear from anyone who was on Washington Parade at around 6.25pm this evening and saw any part of this incident, or captured anything on dash cam that could help our enquiries.

“If you saw the bike travelling in the area shortly before, or the van leaving the scene, please get in touch and help us piece together exactly what happened.

“If you live in the area, please review your CCTV in case something that may help the investigation was captured. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could help us with our ongoing enquiries.”
