Quiz viewers in awe of Michael Sheen's incredible Chris Tarrant impression

It was easy to forget it wasn't actually him!

The first episode of brand new drama Quiz aired on ITV last night (Mon 13th), telling the real-life story of how Major Charles Ingram managed to cheat on Who Want To Be A Millionaire? back in 2001.

Of course, the initial show set the scene, showing how it was first Charles' brother-in-law Adrian Pollock then his wife Diana Ingram who went on the show to try and clear Adrian's debts.

And whilst it was interesting to learn a bit of the backstory about the scandal, the real eye-opener was Michael Sheen's performance as TV presenter Chris Tarrant, who hosted the show from 1998 to 2014.

Although it should come as no surprise that he would give a good performance on the show, viewers of the show were left utterly gobsmacked, as his impersonation of Chris was perfect - from the look right down to the way he spoke and his mannerisms.

Viewers of the show couldn't believe their eyes, and took to Twitter to share their shock over the perfect casting. One wrote, 'I've only seen 30 seconds of Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant and he's brilliant, it's uncanny.'

Another added, 'I have to say Michael Sheen playing Chris Tarrant is absolute pure genius!' and another added, 'The evidence is clear, what the people want is a full series of Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant,' whilst one other joked, 'Michael Sheen does a better Chris Tarrant than Chris Tarrant.'

Chris appeared on Good Morning Britain yesterday to discuss the show, calling Michael a 'superb' actor and admitting that the performance was a 'pretty close' performance. He said, "I'm watching it going, 'Oh, I do that!' There's a way that he stands and I actually do that as well! He's very good."
