Taylor Swift announces surprise album 'Folklore' with full tracklist
It's the follow-up to 2019's 'Lover'
Taylor Swift has just surprised fans around the world by announcing a brand new album called 'Folklore'. The singer took to her socials sharing a black and white, grainy photo of a herself sitting in a forest looking up at the sky.
Telling her fans, 'Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen. And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore. Surprise 🤗
The singer also confirmed the release date of the surprise album, 'Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into.'
Written and recorded during the Coronavirus Pandemic, Taylor went on to reveal that she has also collaborated with a number of writers including, Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver - who also features on a song, and William Bowery, amongst others.
Taylor also confirmed that she would be releasing the music video for a new song called 'Cardigan', which she wrote and directed.
'Folklore' will be Taylor's eighth studio album and the standard edition will feature 16 songs, with a deluxe edition featuring an extra song called 'The Lakes'. The 'Lover' singer also revealed there would be special editions of the release saying, 'Because this is my 8th studio album, I made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week 😄 Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork.'
