James Corden, host of The Late Late Show in the US, has hit back at President Trump's decision to ban trans people from serving in the military with a song called 'L-G-B-T'.

Donald Trump caused controversy earlier this week when he announced on Twitter that trans people could not serve in the US military in any capacity, citing "tremendous medical costs and disruption".

Dressed in a back suit and bow tie James performed a parody of 'L-O-V-E', the 1964 song by Nat King Cole, changing the words to say,

"L - he doesn't care for lesbians,

"G - he thinks two men should just be friends,

"B - to his dumb knowledge, is just a phase in college,

"T - he finds confusing so the army's now refusing trans, women who only want to serve, trans, men who only want rights we all deserve."

Continuing, "POTUS thinks it's unsavoury, patriots who know real bravery,

"Trump's got hate for me and you."

James was accompanied by his house band and four dancers wearing a small top hat, shirt, suit jacket and sequined hot pants.

James later tweeted, 'Hey Ivanka, James here. Hope all is good, quick question, can you... Erm... Call your dad and have a talk. X'

This was in reference to a tweet the President's daughter had posted at the beginning of June where she praised 'the LGBTQ Americans who have made immense contributions to our society and economy.'

James Corden continues his popular Late Late Show in the US every week night with the highlights appearing on YouTube.
