After series five ended on THAT cliff-hanger back in March 2019, fans of hit BBC drama Line of Duty were buzzing for series six to air in 2020, that was until the Coronavirus put a stop to filming.

Now, after filming resumed back in September, BBC bosses have delighted us to the core by revealing fans can expect the hugely-anticipated new series on our TV screens sometime in March 2021!

Just like many TV shows, including the likes of Love Island, Peaky Blinders and the nation's favourite soaps, filming for Line of Duty was halted back in March this year when the nation went into full lockdown to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Taking to Twitter at the time, bosses wrote, 'In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, @worldprods are suspending filming of #LineofDuty S6 with the support of the BBC. We will keep you updated with further developments in due course. Thank you.'

Filming then resumed with main actors Adrian Dunbar (Ted Hastings), Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott), and Vicky McClure (DI Kate Fleming) in September, with creator Jed Mercurio sharing a number of behind-the-scenes snaps online.

Back in September, Jed paid tribute to the show's amazing stunt team on Twitter, writing, '#LineofDuty6 Huge respect to our stunts team led by Donal O’Farrell featuring ace stunt drivers Steph Carey and Dave Anders. It’s easy for me to write “van rolls” - they make it happen. Steph doubled for Keeley Hawes in S2 and hardcore LoD fans will recognise Dave from S4 ...' (sic)

In other Line of Duty news, fans were left gutted earlier this month when it was revealed the popular show would be removed from streaming site Netflix, with only series five remaining.

Although it wasn't revealed why, there is one silver-lining being that all five series of the show are currently available to users on the BBC iPlayer!

Line of Duty series six is due to land on the BBC in March 2021.
