As we delve deeper into the sixth series of Line of Duty, our own personal investigative files are bursting at the seams as the BBC hit police drama throws even more puzzles our way. Now, the latest mystery to play on our minds is just who on earth Jo Davidson's antagonist is related to - but eagle-eyed fans already have their theories!

Viewers were left on a pretty huge cliffhanger last night (Sunday 11th April), when Ted Hastings received a folder confirming that samples found at a house meant that Jo had a relative - and you know it's gonna be good when Ted utters his iconic catchphrase "Mother of God". Take a look through some of the best fan theories on Line of Duty's latest brain scratcher...

As our eyes were pretty much glued to the screen throughout the whole episode, it wasn't hard to miss the snapshot we were given of a personnel file, which viewers initially thought would be the identity of the mystery relative. This lead, however, soon fell flat when fans realised that it was just, in fact, just Jo Davidson herself pictured on the page.

Andrea Wise

Kicking off the theories is Andrea Wise, played by Elizabeth Rider. Many fans can't help but notice a 'resemblance' between the Deputy Chief Constable and the picture that Jo threw her glass at, with many comparing a side-by-side comparison of the two. Let's face it, Andrea hasn't painted herself in the greatest light thus far, and we're only half way through...

It's no secret that Andrea Wise has little-to-no interest in catching corrupt coppers (cutting the anti-corruption budget by 90% is a bit of a clue there), leading fans to theorise that she may in fact be one herself, eager to suppress the investigation into Jo's wrongdoing.

Nigel Morton

Who can forget the King of corruption Nigel Morton?! Played by the charming Neil Morrissey, many fans have been quick to point out that the villainous cop is still out there, having never been actually killed off in his final series. If crooked police work runs in the fam, this could be a pretty solid theory.

Adding fuel to the fire is Neil Morrissey himself, who recently teased fans on This Morning with his possible return to the police drama, saying, "I keep telling Jed Mercurio that I’m very much alive. I just say, just bring me back and shoot me in the face!"

Mike Dryden

Fuelling the discussion on this one is the simple fact that Mike Dryden is Scottish... And, of course, incredibly crooked. If crookedness isn't genetic, then the backbone of most of the theories so far pretty much fall flat. Viewers, however, can't help but be extra suspicious of Mike, played by Mark Bonnar, due to his distinctive accent - a factor that fans think is vital.

Kate Fleming

Throwing a spanner in the works of the pair's blossoming relationship, many fans are theorising that the two may in fact be sisters. The pushing factor here is that Kate was the only member of AC-12 who wasn’t present when the DNA results were shared.

Thomas Hunter

Another thought out theory taking over Twitter right now is that Jo and Thomas Hunter may in fact be brother and sister. Taking a closer look at the mysterious file, which is sending Line of Duty fans into a tizzy right now, one eagle-eyed viewer is convinced that the name John Thomas Hunter, Thomas Hunter's full name, is listed. Interesting...
