The new series of Britain's Got Talent is nearly upon us! The 12th series of the popular talent show returns to TV on Saturday 14th April, so here's everything you need to know ahead of the show's big return.

When does Britain's Got Talent 2018 start?

The new series of Britain's Got Talent 2018 will start on Saturday 14th April. The date was announced on Twitter by the official account. The tweet read, 'We CANNOT wait for the new series to start! Not long now... 🤗 🎉 🌟#BGT'. sic

The auditions for the 2018 series of Britain’s Got Talent actually kicked off in October last year. The theatre auditions, involving the judges, took place in January and February.

Who are the Britain's Got Talent judges?

For the seventh series running, the Britain's Got Talent judging panel will remain the same.

Comedian David Walliams, singer Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden will all join head judge Simon Cowell behind their red buzzers as they look for the best talent in Britain.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has been a judge on the show alongside Amanda Holden since the first series way back in 2007.

Former Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixon and funny man David Walliams joined the show in 2012, with the panel staying the same ever since.

Who is hosting Britain's Got Talent?

Popular presenting duo Ant and Dec usually host the TV show, however Ant has stepped down from all TV duties and has gone back into rehab.

As the audition rounds of the show were filmed earlier this year, both Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly will appear on the show for the first few episodes.

ITV have now confirmed that Dec will present the live shows on his own. In a statement they said, "Dec will be hosting the live shows, which for the first time ever are coming from the Hammersmith Apollo, while Ant steps down from his TV commitments for now. We send Ant all our love. And we know that Dec will do a brilliant job."

After winning the show, Tokio signed a record deal and released his debut album 'Our Generation' in November 2017. Tokio then appeared as a guest performer during the 2017 final of The X Factor, where he performed alongside finalist Kevin Davy White.

Despite a number of TV spin-off shows getting axed in the past few years, Britain's Got More Talent is still going strong and it's a favourite with viewers!

The show is set to return on ITV2 this year with popular host Stephen Mulhern.

The former magician was forced to miss the start of auditions in January when he picked up a nasty bout of Laryngitis. Tweeting his fans, Stephen revealed he'd been put on vocal rest by his doctor.

He wrote, 'Morning! Absolutely gutted to be missing the first round of @BGT auditions this week in Blackpool! I am on doctor’s strict orders to rest my voice, after suffering a nasty bout of Laryngitis - first day off from the show in 11 years. Unbelievable!'. sic

Britain's Got More Talent will air on ITV2 straight after the main show on ITV.

Who has won Britain's Got Talent in the past?

To date, 11 different acts have won Britain's Got Talent. These range from singers, dancers, comedians, magicians and even dogs!

The first ever winner of the show was opera star Paul Potts, who wowed both the judges and audience with his stunning cover of 'Nessun Dorma'.

Other notable winners include dance group Diversity, Ashleigh and Pudsey, George Sampson and last year's winner, pianist Tokio Myers.

Who is the most successful Britain’s Got Talent winner?

It depends how you measure success, Paul Potts had a platinum selling number 1 album, Diversity had a number of sell out tours and took part in their own TV show. Ashley Banjo, Diversity's lead dancer, is also now a judge on Dancing On Ice.

Dancer George Sampson also enjoyed major success, as well as appearing in StreetDance 2, George landed roles in TV shows Waterloo Road and Mount Pleasant.

Dog act Ashley and Pudsey were very popular winners, and they went on to have their very own movie called Pudsey: The Movie. In 2017, Ashleigh announced the sad news that Pudsey had passed away.

As well as receiving a massive ÂŁ250,000 in prize money, every winner of Britain's Got Talent is given a spot on the Royal Variety Show. The winning act performs in front of Royalty at the show which usually takes place in December.
