Third man charged in connection with fatal collision in Ringwood

A third man has been charged in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Ringwood, last June.

On 15 June 2023, a crash involving two cars on the A338 near to the Ashley Heath Roundabout, resulted in the death of one of the passengers.

31-year-old George Greaves from Portsmouth was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Yusuf Muzil, aged 23 and of Cricklewood in London, who was behind the wheel of the second car, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court in September.

After admitting causing death by dangerous driving and two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, Muzil is currently serving 12 years in prison.

A second man, aged 29 and from London, was later charged with dangerous driving offences in November and is due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court in February.

Witnesses reported seeing the car Muzil was driving - a Lexus - along with two other vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of 80mph in the moments leading up to the collision.

Following enquiries, police have now charged a third man - a 29-year-old from Solihull, in the West Midlands.

He was arrested this Tuesday (30 January) and subsequently charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was also charged with fraudulent use of a registration mark or registration document and causing death by driving a vehicle with no insurance or where the driver is unlicensed.

He's due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court today (1 February).

Following Muzil's sentence last September, the family of George Greaves who was a musician from Portsmouth, said in a statement:

"The sudden loss of our happy smiling George - son, brother, grandson and friend - has devastated our family and changed all our futures forever.

"He leaves behind a huge number of heartbroken family and friends who loved him so dearly for so many different reasons. We will all remember George for his kindness and care for others, plus his awesome guitar skills that provided us and him with so much pleasure.

"The world was far more wonderful with George in it. He will be forever missed by us all for the promising life we were so looking forward to being a part of, that now will never be. Rest and rock in peace George."
