Familiar face at Salisbury FC retires

'Car Park Ken' won't be on the gates this season

The first person many people see when they arrive at Salisbury FC on a matchday won't be there anymore.

Ken Goss, affectionately known as 'Car Park Ken' is calling time on his efforts as the car park steward at the Ray Mac.

He's been a regular fixture at the ground (excuse the pun!) for decades, taking supporters fees into his money belt.

In a statement, Salisbury FC have thanked Ken for his service:

"Through wind, rain and snow, our Ken would be out there. We think he has more than earned the right to put his feet up. Although we hope he’s still going to be joining us to watch the football."

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY TODAY

The Whites will miss Ken this afternoon (Saturday 9th July) when they have a home match as part of their pre-season campaign.

They're taking on an XI from Premier League side Brentford.

We're not sure how many first teamers will feature for the top-flight opponents, but it could be a chance to see some stars of the future.

Salisbury have already started their preparations for the new season, with a 3-2 win against Frome Town away, last weekend (Saturday 2nd July).
