Man seriously hurt after shooting outside shop in Liverpool

A manhunt is underway to find the person responsible

An investigation is underway after a man was shot in Liverpool.

Police were called to reports of a shooting outside the Go Local shop on Scotland Road in Kirkdale at 9:37pm on Thursday 9 May.

It was reported that the offender was dressed in black clothing and ran off in the direction of Silvester Street following the incident.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

An investigation has been launched with officers conducting CCTV and witness enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information about what happened is asked to contact Merseyside Police.

Detective Inspector James Halpin said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish why the incident took place and who was involved.

"Fortunately, the man’s injuries are not life threatening and while I understand this is a shocking incident for the local community and we believe this was a targeted attack.

“We have a large police presence in the area.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at around 9.30pm onwards and witnessed the incident to contact Merseyside Police. Please check your CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage and if you see anything suspicious, please let us know. Any information you provide, however, insignificant it may seem, could be vital to our investigation.”

Detective Inspector Halpin added: “I would encourage anyone who knows about this incident or has any information about firearms in their local community to come forward and tell us what they know.

“There is no room for guns on the streets of Merseyside and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
