Bake Off's Laura Adlington pleads with fans over 'fix' row

She's received some shocking messages 😔

The Great British Bake Off's Laura Adlington has hit back at trolls after she received backlash when fellow contestant Hermine was sent home earlier this week.

Taking to Twitter to address the criticism some viewers have thrown at her, Laura wrote online, 'It's ok to be sad your favourite person didn't go through, but please remember it's not my fault.

'I don't make the decisions. GBBO is all about kindness and I haven't seen much of that on here.' (sic)

Laura and Hermine went head to head in Patisserie week after both bakers' lesser performances left them at risk of being sent home by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

She went on to add, 'It's easy to sit there on your sofa and judge. But I am a real person with feelings. Please take a moment to consider your words before you judge someone you've never met and whose food you've never tasted.' (sic)

Laura and Hermine both encountered problems in the latest episode, with Laura's mirror glaze not forming properly, and Hermine's showstopper turning out, in the words of Paul Hollywood, like a "rubber ball."

But, the judges ruled that Laura's showstopper cube cake tasted better, though she performed worse in the technical round, and it was left to Hermine to make her way home ahead of the final.

Fans of the show contested the judges decisions and, at the expense of Laura's feelings, took to social media to let their opinions be known.

Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague even had her say about the matter, writing, 'For my Bake Off fans... can I just say that I’m in complete shock that Hermine’s just been sent home ?!

'She’s messed up one thing and Laura’s messed up 6163 times? (No shade on Laura) but WTFFF 🤯🤯🤯 #bakeoff.' (sic)

But, thankfully, there were some fans coming online to defend Laura.

One fan wrote, 'I hope Laura is okay, there’s a lot on Twitter that could be taken the wrong way.'

And, former Bake Off contestant Michael Chakraverty came to support Laura big time, writing that viewers can show support for their favourite contestants without being mean to others.

He continued, 'If you have something sh-tty to say about any of the bakers, take your comment, put it in the bin, and climb in after it.'

The Great British Bake Off 2020 final will take place on Tuesday 24th November.
