Who hosts Love Island?

On 22nd August 2022, Laura Whitmore shocked fans as she shared the news that she will not be returning to host further seasons of Love Island.

Announcing the news on her Instagram page, she wrote: 'Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

'I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.

'I hope I did you proud Caroline ❤️'. (sic)

Then, on Wednesday 12th October 2022, after weeks of rumours, ITV bosses confirmed Maya Jama would be taking over as the new Love Island host.

Maya said: “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”

Director of Reality Programming & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ItvBe & CITV, Paul Mortimer said: “Finding a new host to follow the wonderful Laura Whitmore was never going to be easy. In Maya Jama though, we have another high profile fan of the show who’ll be a great addition to the Love Island family. Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presenting style to the show, as did Laura and, of course, the very much missed Caroline Flack. We’re very pleased to have her on board.”

Maya received rave reviews during the Winter series between January-March, and returned for the Summer series, as well as both Love Island: Games and Love Island: All Stars.

Love Island's support protocols

Ahead of the new series in 2023, bosses released their updated Duty of Care Protocols, which featured a number of changes.

One of the main changes is that all Islanders will have their social media accounts paused whilst in the villa, to protect both themselves and their families from 'the adverse effects of social media'.

Islanders will also receive guidance and training around mutually respectful behaviour in relationships ahead of entering the villa, as well as care pre filming, filming, and aftercare.

When was Love Island postponed?

Despite doing all they could to make the 2020 Summer series go ahead, on Tuesday 4th May, bosses announced they'd postponed Love Island until 2021.

ITV bosses released the following statement:

"We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority." Kevin Lygo, Director of Television at ITV said.

"In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that’s now out of the question.

"We are very sorry for fans of the show but making it safely is our prime concern and Love Island will be back stronger than ever in 2021. In the meantime Love Island fans can still enjoy all six series of Love Island on BritBox."

What is the prize for winning for Love Island?

A cool £50,000, with each Islander getting a massive £25,000 each.

Although the first seven series of Love Island featured the split or steal twist, bosses decided to scrap the twist in 2022.

Love Island vote

Voting is completely free on Love Island, all you have to do is download the app! Although voting is not open every day, voice-over Iain Stirling will let viewers know when, and what to vote for during the show.

Why is Love Island not on TV on a Saturday?

Despite sitting down six nights of the week, Love Island doesn't air on a Saturday night, leaving viewers gutted. BUT NOW, in news that has left us shocked to core, 2017 winner Kem Cetinay has revealed the reason why.

Speaking on This Morning, Kem revealed the Islanders actually get a DAY OFF from filming, where they can leave the villa so the cleaners can go in.

Kem said: "They give you one day off. You get one day off per week. What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa, and you take your mics off, and normally we go to the beach."

As Holly Willoughby and former host Phillip Schofield appeared shocked, Kem added: "So what happens is, when you take your mic off, you are not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show, you have to talk about home life.

"You are being watched by the producers, because they don't want you to talk about what is going on. They are quite careful about what you talk about, because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see it."

Tom Clare and Molly Smith: DATING

Despite taking part in the All Stars series alongside her ex-boyfriend Callum Jones, Molly found a connection with series 9 Islander Tom Clare in the villa, with the pair going on to win the show!

Toby Aromolaran and Georgia Steel: SPLIT

They had history from Love Island: Games, and after the pair both took part in Love Island: All Stars in 2024, they rekindled their romance! Despite a few hiccups in the villa, Toby and Georgia left as a 'locked in' couple, making it all the way to the final!

However, just weeks later in March 2024, Georgia released a statement to confirm the pair had split, revealing it was Toby who chose to end things.

Anton Danyluk and Georgia Harrison: DATING

Although it took Georgia a while to discover romantic feelings for Anton during the All Stars series, these two eventually looked cosy and made it all the way to the final.

Sammy Root and Jess Harding: SPLIT

After entering the 2023 Summer series on Day One, Jess Harding waited a few weeks for Sammy Root to enter, and despite a number of tests in the villa, the pair went official before going on to win the show.

However, just two months later, a source close to the pair told Mail Online they'd split, saying: "Jess and Sammy have called it quits. Things have changed since leaving the villa and Jess has realised they're better off as friends."

Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowack: DATING

Finishing the 2023 Summer series as runners-up, Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowack didn't waste time in making things official when they left the villa.

Following Molly's sensational return to the villa in Summer 2023, she recoupled with basketball player Zachariah and the pair didn't look back. After going exclusive in the villa, they made it all the way to the final, finishing in fourth place.

After a seven month relationship, it was announced in March 2024 that the pair had split, with a spokesperson saying: "Love Island's Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble have made the decision to end their relationship in the last week. They both are still extremely close friends and will be supporting each other in their next ventures."

Ella Barnes and Mitchel Taylor: SPLIT

Despite being in a love triangle alongside Abi Moores, Mitch and Ella B went exclusive just before being dumped a few days before the final, with the pair admitting they were excited to see what the future holds.

However, the pair took to their Instagram Stories in August 2023 to announce their split, with Mitch stating that their 'busy lives' and living far apart made it 'extremely hard for it to work.'

In January 2024, Mitch headed into the Love Island: All Stars villa.

Kady McDermott and Ouzy See: SPLIT

Although they left the villa together, things looked awkward between these two during the reunion show, and just days later Kady confirmed the pair had split due to Ouzy's 'behaviour' during a night out. In the same statement, Kady also denied reports that she had a secret boyfriend when returning to the show.

Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan: DATING

After Casa Amor bombshell Sanam Harrinanan swept PE teacher Kai Fagan off his feet, the pair went on to win the Winter 2023 series, gaining an impressive 44% of the vote.

Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins: SPLIT

These two were coupled up from Day One during series nine, and despite a rocky road half-way through, the pair reconnected and ended as runners-up behind Kai and Sanam. Ron made Lana his official girlfriend in the villa.

Tom Clare and Samie Elishi: SPLIT

In January 2024, Tom landed in the Love Island: All Stars villa as a bombshell.

Shaq Muhammad and Tanya Manhenga: DATING

After coupling up during the first day, it had looked like Shaq and Tanya were outright favourites to win the 2023 Winter series... That was until Casa Amor. Despite telling Shaq she loved him, Tanya brought back Martin from Casa, leaving Shaq heartbroken. However, after realising her mistake, Tanya won back Shaq, with the pair later going official and making it all the way to the final.

In August 2023, the pair announced they were moving in together!

Will Young and Jessie Wynter: DATING

Despite his Casa Amor antics, farmer Will captured the heart of Australian bombshell Jessie during the 2023 Winter series. Although the pair narrowly missed out on a place in the final, they did leave as an official couple, after Jessie asked Will to be her boyfriend in the villa.

Weeks after leaving the villa, Jessie announced she has permanent plans to live in the UK, admitting the couple have plans to get their own place.

Casey O’Gorman and Rosie Seabrook: SPLIT

After Casey chose to couple up with late arrival Rosie, in turn ending things with Claudia Fogarty, the pair seemed very happy together as they left the villa together just days before the final.

However, just days after the reunion show, Casey took to his Instagram page to confirm the pair had decided to just be good friends.

Maxwell Samuda and Olivia Hawkins: SPLIT

Although these two had plans of getting to know each other more back in the UK, work and holiday commitments got in the way, with the pair mutually agreeing to call things off with no hard feelings.

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti: SPLIT

They were crowned the 2022 winners following their whirlwind romance, and for 11 months Ekin-Su and Davide's romance seemed to be going well, with the pair even landing their own spin-off show called Ekin-Su and Davide: Homecomings.

Weeks after leaving the villa, Luca pulled out all of the stops to make Gem his official girlfriend, but sadly they split just three months later.

The pair have since moved in together and look very happy together.

After returning to the UK, the pair made things official with Adam asking Paige to be his girlfriend, but in early October rumours were rife that the pair had split, with Paige deleting all trace of Adam from her Instagram.

Danica Taylor and Jamie Allen: SPLIT

There's no denying the fact dancer Danica found it hard to find a connection during the 2022 series. However, things took a turn when late bombshell Jamie Allen arrived, with the pair getting dumped a week before the final.

Danica and Jamie told host Laura Whitmore during the Love Island 2022 final that they are looking forward to getting to know each other further on the outside.

However, at the end of August reports emerged that the pair had split.

Millie Court and Liam Reardon: DATING

Liam asked Millie to be his official girlfriend during the final of the 2021 series, just moments before they were crowned the series seven winners.

After meeting each other's family, Millie and Liam moved in together in Essex in November 2021.

The pair announced they'd decided to split in July 2022, with Millie sharing an emotional statement to her Instagram page.

However, the couple rekindled their romance in April 2023!

Mary Bedford and Aaron Simpson: SPLIT

Despite getting pretty romantic in the villa, Mary 'friendzoned' Aaron pretty hard after saying she 'definitely made a best friend' when referring to her partner during a post-show interview.

Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish: SPLIT

Liberty and Jake will go down in history as one of the most heartbreaking on-screen break ups, as they called it a day just days before the final, with Liberty admitting that she's 'choosing herself' over finding love.

In January 2024, both Liberty and Jake appeared on the All Stars series.

Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran: SPLIT

Despite his head turning on more than one occasion in the villa, Toby found love with Chloe during series seven, with the semi-pro footballer asking her to be his official girlfriend during the annual Summer Ball.

After attending a number of events together, the couple announced they'd moved in together in November 2021 and in May 2022 squashed rumours that they had split after fans spotted that they hadn't been seen on Instagram for months.

Sadly, however, in October 2022, it was revealed that the pair had decided to split, following months of trying to make their relationship work. A source revealed that there was 'no wrongdoing'.

Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank: SPLIT

Kaz and Tyler ended series seven stronger than ever but in December, reports emerged that they had 'split' after three months after 'trying everything to make things work'.

A week later, the pair confirmed the news in a joint statement, revealing: 'Life since the villa has been amazing, but it's taking time to adjust to a new normal in the public eye. This part of the journey hasn't been easy for us but we're learning.'

Faye Winter and Teddy Soares: SPLIT

We all know the ups and downs Faye and Teddy endured during series seven of Love Island, but the pair made it all the way to the final, finishing in third place as boyfriend and girlfriend.

The pair went from strength to strength when they arrived back in the UK, moving in together in November 2021. However, after weeks of speculation, Faye announced she'd split from Teddy in February 2023.

Paige Turley and Finn Tapp: SPLIT

At the beginning of March 2020, Maura and Curtis announced their split, with Maura admitting things just didn't work out.
