Staycations this year just got a whole lot tastier!
With pop-up food trucks and alternative takeaway options, it’s fair to say that most of us will spend the summer feasting.
One spot that’s top of our foodie bucket lists is Roller Boy – which just opened up at Hill Street Hatch, Cathedral Quarter.
You might be thinking, I’ve heard of Hill Street Hatch before…well that’s probably from the viral hype surrounding their last creative partnership The Toast Office.
Roller Boy offers a fresh approach on the classic Sausage Roll, with a few contemporary twists created by well-known local chef John Hollywood.
With more than 16 years’ experience, John has designed a fun menu filled with reimagined childhood favourite snacks and desserts. Homemade sides such as beans and coleslaw, jambons, Maine fizzy drinks and of course, the sausage roll bap!
Roller Boy opens Thursday – Sunday each week, from 9am – 3pm.
Not to worry, if you were one of the few who didn’t make it to The Toast Office first time round, they’ve extended their stay in the Cathedral Quarter, with a quirky space within The Dark Horse just around the corner.

Made in Antrim, Antrim
You might have spotted this foodie truck on your Instagram or TikTok recently, and no wonder, their menu is unreal. We're talking tacos, bao buns, nachos, dirty fries and street sauces! It might be dangerous to visit when you're hungry, you'll want to order everything. You can check it out at Lough Shore in Antrim town.
Blue Cedar, Ballynahinch
Talk about a mouthwatering menu… brioche French toast, buttermilk pancakes with fried chicken and New York street fries! Blue Cedar is a family run business, first opening in 2019, that has grown immensely in just a few years. Local produce and supplies are at the heart of this brand, with a delicious coffee shop, innovative garden centre and popular landscaping business, all tucked within blue industrial containers.
Wagyu Wagon, Killyleagh
A lockdown pop-up that has thrived during the pandemic, the Wagu Wagon offers burgers made from prime cuts of 100% Grass Fed Wagyu Beef. But what is Wagu? Wagyu beef originates from Japan and is considered by many the best beef on the planet. It's different from other types of beef, with its distinctive marbled texture. The more marbling, the more flavoursome, tender and juicy the meat will be. If you call yourself a burger connoisseur, then you gotta check out the Wagu Wagon.
Coop Coffee, Belfast
Talk about a viral success! Located on the Upper Malone Road, you can't miss Coop Coffee's stylish pink display. Popular not just with the locals but with furry friends too, Coop's yummy coffee, tasty treats and 'puppuccinos' are a must-try!
The Toast Box, Newcastle
Unwind after a day hiking in the Mournes Mountains with a classic toastie from The Toast Box in Newcastle. Warm yourself up with a bowl of homemade soup/seafood chowder or enjoy a coffee and traybake along the shore. You can spot The Toast Box on Savoy Lane, it's open from12pm to late.
Meatbox NI, Castlelrock
Meat lovers will obsess over this place – they were recently crowned Ulster's Best Gourmet Burger Specialist! Located at Castlerock Holiday Park, you can stop by for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving the very best North Coast produce. You can't beat a filled soda with an incredible view.
Mini Maegden, Giant’s Causeway
After a blistering walk along the north coast, what's the first thing you want to tuck into…a cheese toastie and hot chocolate of course. Just a stone's throw away from the Giant's Causeway, you will find Mini Maegden, a 1950s caravan pitched in a nearby field. Cheese + caravan = field of dreams!! With tasty local ingredients, freshly baked bread, weekend specials and a rustic charm, no matter the weather you'll fall in love with this spot instantly!
Pyke ‘N’ Pommes, Derry/Londonderry
It's destination #FlavourTown at Pyke 'N' Pommes…if you know, you know! Located alongside the quay on the River Foyle in the city, you'll spot a bold and grey and orange double decker bus. Perfect for a quick grab & go meal, or if you have time, take a seat on their bus & prepare your tastebuds for a wild ride. Anyone that visits, falls in love with their Squid Tacos!
The Hatch Newcastle
If you're visiting Newcastle, you HAVE to check out The Hatch – this artisan truck moves along the Mourne coastal route, from Kilkeel to Dundrum and Newcastle. It's hard to choose just one thing to try on their menu, they serve everything from loaded fries to chicken wings and monster burgers.
