Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal captured the hearts of the nation back in April when they starred in Normal People as Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan. The heartbreaking tale, based on the novel by Sally Rooney, followed the story of the characters through school, college and on after that.

Although fans have been clamouring for a second series to find out what happens to the couple in the future, the TV series followed the course of the novel, which currently does not have a follow-up.

However - the pair teamed up once again for a Comic Relief special in Ireland! Daisy and Connell starred in a sketch for the charity, which was a Normal People/Fleabag crossover as they were joined by Fleabag's 'Hot Priest', played by Andrew Scott.

There's a four-minute clip of the sketch on YouTube, showing a hilarious interaction between Connell and the Priest, which sees Connell end up being the 'agony uncle' instead of being able to share his own thoughts. They're later joined by Marianne, and it all goes a bit haywire...

There was also a second sketch for the charity relating to Normal People, this time starring Dublin Murders' Peter McDonald and Irish Gogglebox narrator Deirdre O’Kane. Older Normal People saw what life could be like for Marianne and Connell 40 years in the future - and Connell was still wearing his chain!

It was hilarious to see the other actors embody the characters, and be totally Marianne and Connell about a plate of beans on toast... Watch it and you'll see what we mean. 😂 🙈

Richard Curtis, founder of the charity, confirmed the news that Daisy and Paul would be back along with director Lenny Abrahamson on the show.

When the host asked Richard - who is the brains behind modern British classics such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Blackadder among many others - if he was a fan of Normal People, he gushed over the series.

"Oh, I was furious," he joked. "It's so much better than anything we've ever made. I mean I can't even say all about it because there's a guest star in it. But it's really, it's really beautiful. One of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen.

"I can't imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra special into the world of Normal People."

He further explained about the second special entitled Normal Older People, which followed the lives of Connell and Marianne are like 40 years in the future, "I promise you, these are two very special bits.

"Honestly, I just got sent the rundown of everything that's going to be happening on the night. I was thinking what's it like, and it's like a fridge in a hotel where you open it up and you see all these perfect little miniatures. You think, 'Well, I'll have all of them.' There are so many great bits."

Although the special only aired in Ireland, the two clips are now available to watch on YouTube!
