2022 looks set to be a pretty great year for Co. Down actor Jamie Dornan.

Following his Golden Globe nomination for semi-autographical feature film Belfast, Jamie Dornan set pulses racing with another epic BBC drama.

The Tourist broke New Year’s Day records over the holiday period, with over 4.5 million viewers tuning in. Beating shows like The Masked Singer and Doctor Who.

The show follows Dornan who plays ‘The Man’, who finds himself stranded in the outback of Australia, as he wakes up after a car crash not knowing who he is or how he ended up there.

The six-part series features intense drama, thrilling adventure and a flavour of Northern Ireland’s famous charm and banter.

One fan of the show wrote on Twitter: “Every now and again the BBC broadcast amazing TV shows like #thetourist THE BENCHMARK HAS BEEN SET FOR 2022. CAST 100%. Writing 100%

Another shared: “Yep, I have just stayed up until 3.00am watching all episodes of #TheTourist Hooked from start to finish, total rollercoaster, loved the humour and was near to tears a couple of times. Now what do I do?? #JamieDornan just gets better & better

Dornan’s portrayal of a ‘local’ Irish man has caused quite the stir on social media.

Local comedian Neil Delamere wrote on Twitter: "Jamie, go to an Irish bar, you will bump into one of your cousins within 20 minutes."

All six episodes are available to stream online via the BBC iPlayer.
