Now that the ninth series of Married At First Sight Australia is over, there's a massive MAFS-shaped hole in our lives, but don't panic, because it sounds like we aren't going to have to wait too long!

After applications for the UK series were opened earlier this year, relationship expert Mel Schilling has revealed filming is now under way for Married At First Sight UK.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Mel confessed the upcoming new series is "so exciting", admitting: "we are upping the ante this season."

She told the publication: "Oh my gosh. We are in the process of filming. It's so exciting. You know, all of those love bombs that were dropped in the last season, we are upping the ante this season.

"There's more diversity, there's more interesting matches and surprising matches, more drama that is totally unanticipated, it just bubbles to the surface."

Explaining how the experts struggle to predict the drama, Mel added: "I find every season, it happens both ways where there's a couple where we think 'Oh, this is going to be the next love story' and then they fall to pieces.

"And vice versa, there's a couple where we think, 'Oh, there's gonna be fireworks' and they absolutely love each other. I think that's what keeps us coming back."

Which MAFS UK couples are still together?

Adam and Tayah - ENGAGED

Adam and Tayah proved love at first sight most definitely IS a thing! These two immediately hit it off on their wedding day, with the pair even saying the L word on their honeymoon.

After zero issues throughout the process, viewers were over the moon when Adam proposed to Tayah for real during their final vow renewal.

Since the final episode, Adam and Tayah have been very loved-up on socials, and the couple welcomed their first child together in October 2022, a baby girl called Beau Emily Aveling.

Daniel and Matt - SPLIT

Despite seemingly falling for each other very quickly, Daniel and Matt had their struggles due to Matt living in Leeds and Daniel being from Northern Ireland. The pair remained together during the final vow renewal, and appeared seriously loved-up on social media, even looking to move in together in 2022.

Sadly, Matt and Dan took to their socials in December 2022 to reveal that they had split, admitting that they were better as friends, and that the split was amicable.

Luke and Morag - SPLIT

It's safe to say Luke and Morag didn't get off to the best start during the MAFS process. After Morag confessed she didn't find her husband attractive, the couple struggled with intimacy.

However, by the end of the process, Luke and Morag had seemingly found a spark, with the pair choosing to stay together during the final vow renewal.

Despite this, the pair confirmed during the reunion show they'd split up, with Morag admitting Luke hadn't phoned her since the process ended. However, Luke later said it was because Morag still didn't care for him.

Marilyse and Franky - SPLIT

These two shocked viewers during the final vow renewal when they revealed their true feelings for each other, with Franky even admitting he was ready to move back to the UK from Dubai.

Franky later gushed about his girl on social media, admitting he'd moved to the same town as Marilyse and met her children.

However, on Friday 8th October, the pair both released statements confirmed they'd split. They remain good friends.

Josh and Amy - SPLIT

There's no denying the fact that Josh and Amy had a whirlwind experience during the MAFS experiment. After the pair had initial doubts over their age-gap, the couple experienced a number of fiery arguments and disagreements.

However, by the end of the process the pair seemed closer than ever, with Josh opening up about his feelings towards Amy during the final vow renewal.

The pair have been pretty quiet on social media since the final and during the reunion show they confirmed they are no longer together.

When does Married At First Sight UK start?

Although there's no official date been set by E4 for the new series of Married At First Sight UK, the show is expected to return later this year.

Following the popular series last year, which featured couples such as Adam and Tayah and Daniel and Matthew, rumours are rife that the 2022 series will be the longest in the show's history, running for a huge 30 episodes.

Can I still apply for Married At First Sight UK?

Although filming has begun, you can still apply for the 2022 series of MAFS UK.

The application website states that anybody who would like to appear on the show must be over the age of 18, writing: 'In this unique relationship series about married life, a panel of matchmaking experts will be there to help you find the one. To apply, email with your name, age, and contact number to marriedatfirstsight@cplproductions.co.uk'.
